The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is on me,

because the Lord has anointed me

to proclaim good news to the poor.

He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted,

to proclaim freedom for the captives

and release from darkness for the prisoners

Isaiah 61:1

Dear Friends,

This verse has often been used to talk about proclaiming freedom to "spiritual" captives and release from darkness for spiritual prisoners, and rightly so, but it is also true for those who are true captives who are literally locked and bound in literal cells and for prisoners who are truly spending their lives in literal darkness.

We have been able to reach many prisoners through the years who see our ads. In fact the quality of response from prisons has always been far greater than the normal man in society. This is not abnormal since the one locked in a prison often is much more open to think about the sin in their own hearts and has much free time to ponder the meaning of life.

Here's the translation of a short letter we recently received from an inmate in Muğla.

Dear Brothers,

I tasted the love of the Lord Jesus Christ. I accepted him as my Lord and Saviour, and repented confessing all my sins. Brother *Mehmet Paul [another course student and believer in the same prison] helped me to believe in and know our Lord, and he baptized me in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

I chose Christianity with my own free will and desire. In the past they always described Christianity to me in a bad light, however
it turns out the bad ones were those who were telling me these things.

In any case, the Lord showed me grace, called me and brought Mehmet to meet me.

He saved me and gave his blood for me on Calvary. I'm requesting that you send me one New Testament and other books for me to grow in my faith.

I'm really happy and at peace because I'm the Lord's child.

Thank you in advance,

*Sedat

Please pray for those who are in prison in Turkey, that God would lead them to open their hearts and minds to seek the true God who is always waiting for the Prodigal to return to Him.
